My two cents on this - and I’ll just come clean from the start, I’ve watched Tosh.O many times and occasionally enjoyed it, but often in spite of Daniel Tosh. And I can’t watch his stand up at all. So you couldn’t really call me a fan. BUT, having said that I will unashamedly laugh at jokes made in poor taste and defend the right of any comedian to go there if he wants. You want to make dead baby and rape jokes? Go for it. But it better be funny. No sympathy for unfunny dead baby and rape jokes and that’s part of the problem here. What he said wasn’t funny. Not only was it not funny, but it was threatening and incredibly irresponsible and out of measure with the offense. One only needs to look at a few statistics to know that if you’re in a room full of men who’ve been drinking, there’s going to be at LEAST one who’s up for a good raping. Daniel Tosh put a target on this young woman and he had to know what he was doing. He may not be very funny but he’s not stupid.
