I got a commission to make 2 matching Pho bowls through Etsy. One of the requirements was that they hold 6 cups. I found a bowl in my cabinet that was the right size and then set to work trying to throw two matching bowls about 15% bigger than that one. I ended up with 3 sets that kinda matched and were of varying sizes and it’s a good thing I made so many because only the last set ended up being big enough after all the shrinkage and firing had taken place. They are the first set of bowls shown here. The second set finished up holding 5.5 cups comfortably. Six if you fill it all the way to the chopstick notches and hold your breath. But they’re still pretty. My friend David talked me into trying that combination of glazes on them instead of adding the usual blue to the red gold. A little more earthy than I’d normally go for, but attractive nonetheless.
True story. And kinda boring. Not sure why I felt the need to post it.
just… gorgeous.
Those glazes are great. I especially like the “landscape” effect on the outside.
I think they’re very nice. The glaze combos work well together! Grats on a successful set or three. :)
